Yesterday I attended the annual Nebraska Writer's Guild 2013 Spring Conference. I had a BLAST! For anyone who has any ambitions in developing a career in writing, I highly recommend getting involved with your local writer's guild. You can get acquainted and network with other writers, and there is SO MUCH you can learn.
Yesterday's program included presentations from Lee Hough, a very impressive literary agent from Alive Communications and Jonathan Maberry, New York Times and international best-selling author of dozens of supernatural thrillers. Both presentations were fantastic and I, personally, got quite a lot out of them! I actually had the opportunity to speak to both of them and let them know how much I enjoyed their presentations. And, of course, I got the opportunity to hang out with my bestie and mentor, Connie Crow.
Hey guys, these conferences are great! You get to learn from interesting people who know the business and other writers who are already published! Nobody is more supporting of a writer than other writers. And nobody else will push you out of your comfort zone like other more experienced writers. Once again, if you're serious, FIND YOUR LOCAL GUILD! You won't be sorry!
