This morning I received the final and official, signed and legally binding contract from Mundania Press to publish 'The Mage Sister'. Allow me to take a moment to say, "Whew! Yikes! That was hard work!"
I have kept pretty quiet lately because while one is waiting for responses to all the queries one sends out, which to this point have all been 'thanks, but no thanks', there just isn't a lot to say that doesn't end up essentially rambling for no reason other than to make noise. "No news today." "Still no news." "Five months and no news, but no news is good news, right?" And, I'll own up - I was feeling pretty discouraged.
Then, Tuesday, I was checking my email on my Kindle during the last break in a Foundations for Success seminar that I was attending for work, and behold, there sat the acceptance letter from Mundania Press. I can't tell you what happened in the class after that. I was there, but I wasn't present, if you know what I mean. I don't remember a single thing. How I got through the next two hours without bursting, I have no idea.
So, what happens now? Well, quite a lot of celebrating took place, and now that that's over, a lot more hard work lies ahead. The editing phase will begin. I have never worked with an editor before, so I'm sure I'll learn a lot. I will also really need to step up the pace on my work processes. I admit it. I can be a world class procrastinator, but properly motivated, I know I can do this thing! And right now, I'm motivated.
I'll keep you posted on how it is going. I have no idea when the book will be ready for publication - we only just got the legal stuff out of the way, so I expect it'll take some time. In the meantime, I'll continue to bring you any really yummy reads I find.
